Lake Park Campground and Cottages is the PERFECT Black Hills Base Camp. We are nestled under beautiful canopy of shade trees.

Do you allow campfires?  No, we do not have provisions for campfires.  Due to the proximity of other cabins and campers, one persons campfire is basically smoke in the next persons site.  There are a number of locations nearby where it is possible to have a campfire for a picnic or evening meal such as Sheridan Lake, and the picnic shelters here at Canyon Lake.
What do I need to bring for my cottage stay?  You will need to bring anything edible.  We provide all the linens, bedding, pillows, and basic cooking and eating utensils.  Your cottage will have a coffee maker and filters but you will need to bring your own coffee and spices.  We also provide dish soap, bath soap, and toilet paper but you would need to bring your own paper towels and shampoo.
Can I grill?  All of our cottages have their own gas grill.  Campers are welcome to bring their own charcoal or gas grills.
Do you have a pool?  We do not have a pool.  Options for getting wet are either the creek for wading and splashing around or there is a very nice municipal pool about 2 miles down the bike path.  (Right across from Story Book Island).
Can I put a tent up beside our cottage or by my RV site?  We only allow tents on tent sites for a couple of reasons.  The RV sites do not have enough room to accommodate a tent without being on the grass or infringing on someone else’s site.  Tents are very hard on the grass and we also have underground sprinklers which run in the night.
Is your WIFI good?  We go to a lot of effort and expense to provide good wifi.  That being said, we believe the wifi works great for normal everyday browsing and e-mail, but is not set up for gaming or movie streaming.
Can we hold a large family celebration at our cottage of vacation home? Call us for options that we charge for. Our property is set up to provide ample parking for guests staying in one of our cottages or homes.  It is not set up for a large group of people that are not actually staying at Lake Park Campground and Cottages.  We pride ourselves on a quiet peaceful setting so our quiet time starts at 10 pm or dusk whichever comes earlier and unregistered guests are expected to be off the property before that time.  No out door speakers or music are allowed after 6 pm.
What if a emergency arises and we have to cancel our cottage reservation?  Due to the fact that our season is very short and 99% of our guests come in by advance reservation, we must adhere to our cancellation policies.  We highly encourage you to purchase Trip Insurance to protect yourself against this occurrence.  Keep in mind that most Trip Insurance plans require you to make the purchase very soon after making your booking.
Are you centrally located?  We are in a fantastic location for touring the Black Hills.  Mount Rushmore in only thirty minutes away and many of the area attractions are within that radius.  The Badlands are only 45 minutes to the East, and Deadwood about the same distance to the North.  We really enjoy helping plan their daily excursions.
What about pets?  No pets are allowed in the cottages or the cottage areas.  Pets may be brought to the tent and RV sites but cannot ever be left unattended. Location of 3 dog walks are marked for your enjoyment.
A dog run is just past the fish hatchery next to the creek.  No barking or vicious dogs are allowed at any time.  There are links on our web site for Doggy Day Care should you need those services.
How far is it to the grocery store or places to eat?  We are on the West edge of Rapid City just off Highway 44 as you leave to go up into the Black Hills.  Major chain grocery stores are about 3 miles away, with numerous places to eat within 5 miles.  We are just 4 miles from downtown Rapid City.  Country feel with city appeal!  Every summer 2 to 3 x a week the locals have farmers markets and local truck vendors which we keep you updated through our web site.
